Building a Healthier Community Just Became Reality
As our community continues to grow, South Bay Hospital also continues to expand to meet the healthcare needs of our community.
Investing in our Community
In 2013, South Bay Hospital invested $1.2 million for a new interventional radiology suite. The interventional radiology suite features a state of the art digital flat panel imaging system that allows physicians to do more advanced vascular interventions.
In late 2014, a new cardiac cath lab and CT scanner were unveiled at South Bay Hospital. This project represented a $3 million investment in equipment and technology, and expanded the cardiovascular services offered by South Bay Hospital.
New Patient Tower
Groundbreaking Ceremony for new $30-million patient tower and facility renovations. Officials from left are Jim Smeaton; County Commissioner Al Higginbotham; Peter Marmerstein, HCA West Florida Division; Evelyn Lunsford, board chairwoman, South Bay Hospital; Mary LaFollette, district executive secretary to State Representative Jake Raburn; David Garcia, representative for Congressman Tom Rooney; and Sharon Roush, CEO for South Bay Hospital.
Ground breaking for South Bay Hospital's $30 million new patient tower and facility renovation was held on June 4th. After 18 months, the construction of our new tower is nearly complete with a grand opening for the community planned for Friday, December 2nd. To join our Facebook event invite and save the date click here. South Bay Hospital's patients will begin occupying the new intensive care and progressive care units in the new tower by Monday, December 5th.
Our 30,900 square foot tower includes an additional 12 ICU patient rooms and 14 additional progressive care telemetry rooms, bringing the hospital's total bed space to 138. Because of the potential population expansion in our surrounding areas, we also designed our patient tower to be able to accommodate future upward expansion of two floors for an additional 48 beds.
The new addition includes a new hospital entrance with covered golf cart parking, an enhanced main lobby, a new gift shop, a renovated Café at the Bay cafeteria with added outdoor seating and an updated chapel. The hospital campus also gained about 130 additional parking spaces with the new construction. In the first quarter of 2017 South Bay Hospital will continue renovation to the rest of the its existing patient care units to give these units an updated and modern design matching the new ICU/PCU addition.
We are excited about all of the new growth in our community, and we hope you will support us in our vision to be a leader in cutting edge, caring and collaborative healthcare.
